A multi-million dollar volleyball complex with a restaurant and bar in downtown West Carrollton has announced its opening and the start of league play.
Miami Valley Sand will open its 82,000 square foot indoor/outdoor facility Jan. 13 and league play the same day, the developer said this morning.
Signage indicates leagues will start today, but delays have pushed that date back, said co-owner Larry Roberts.
The $4.3 million site is on 6.6 acres at 200 W. Central Ave. on land the city agreed to sell operators last year.

The developer has said the site is expected to draw between 300 and 500 people a night and, during peak times of the year, employ as many as 50 people in the heart of downtown.
Miami Valley Sand will include 17 sand courts and more than 300 parking spaces, records show. The indoor facility will include 44,000 square feet, nine sand courts, a restaurant and bar, heat, fans, and 20 large garage doors to regulate the air flow, officials have said.
Outdoor facilities will feature eight sand courts, showers, restrooms, a bar with food service and a 36-foot wide deck, officials said.
