After 90 years, the family-owned-and-operated Italian restaurant, Marchi’s, at 251 E. 31st St., closed December 28. There was no menu, and the same courses were served all the time. Fans included publicist Sy Presten, 95, and Joanne Binder, who just marked their 30th year of going there. Customers came in and ordered a cocktail or a glass of wine. Dinner, for $61.75 per person, was always the same: an antipasto, homemade lasagna, a fish course, two mains — chicken and veal — and two desserts. “My in-laws opened in the 1930s, during the depression,” said Christine Marchi. The clientele is loyal but it’s time to shut down. “It’s been 90 years! Don’t you think we deserve it?” Marchi said.

…that Casa Del Toro opened in Hell’s Kitchen on December 28. The Mexican restaurant, at 626B 10th Ave., is beside sister French restaurant, Le Privé. Executive chef Reagan Angelle will work with signature Oaxacan dishes like Tlayuda, a $14 traditional tortilla street food with toppings like black beans, shredded chicken and arugula; and $5 mole negro, also served in tortillas. The 3,000-square-foot restaurant has 68 seats and features a hand-sculpted, 10-seat bar with all cocktails lit by fire and torched smoked wood.
