Diners hoping to take their taste buds on a trip to the border yesterday were greeted by an “opening soon” sign at downtown’s newest restaurant.
Local Cantina Water Street, 503 E. 1st St in Dayton, will remain closed until Friday, Jan. 10, according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

The post with a Homer Simpson image reads:
“Due to circumstances out of our control Local Cantina will be closed today and tomorrow. We will be opening Friday at 3 p.m. to get the weekend started! See ya soon!”
Messages were sent to Local Cantina seeking additional information.
Local Cantina, a Columbus area based chain, opened its 4,500-square-foot restaurant iin the Centerfield Flats building across from Brixx Ice Company on Dec. 20.

The Dayton location is the chain’s first outside central Ohio.
Local Cantina offers tacos, appetizers, fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, salads, and a self-serve chips-and-salsa station.
Taco options include Roasted Carnitas, Grilled Fish, BBQ Beef Brisket, Tinga Chicken, Baja Shrimp, Tempura Shrimp and Nashville Hot Chicken.
